In order to assist LACDA participants to succeed in school, work, life, we need to give them the confidence, resources, and support they need to achieve their potential. These positive life changing opportunities are made possible when individuals are engaged in a high-quality mentor to mentee relationship. Therefore, LACDF has implemented a College to Career Mentorship program for students living in low-income housing.
College graduates and career professionals volunteer to become mentors and assist mentees to develop career and life skills needed to succeed in their chosen profession. Students are paired with professionals within their field of interest for one year and work together to develop academic goals and plans to achieve them. Mentors also provide mentees with a job shadow visit.
