YARA BADRAKHAN

Yara Badrakhan is a Project Specialist at the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region in the Community and Volunteer Engagement Department. She works on the PrepareSoCal campaign to address the needs of individuals and families for disaster preparedness. PrepareSoCal provides tips, tools, and training, and promotes community resiliency with a focus on Southern California's most vulnerable communities. Previously, Yara was Lead Project Manager at PVTI Healthcare Consulting. She managed the company's Hierarchical Condition Categories coding projects, supervising a team of remote medical coders and nurses. She also provided marketing and business development strategies, established new client connections, and worked on content development.
Yara started as a volunteer and participated in numerous LACDF community events. She co-wrote a grant that was awarded $8,000 from Kaiser Permanent for LACDF's After School Fuel, a nutrition and education program to benefit public housing youth. Her continued commitment led her to become an LACDF Board Member.
Yara graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and focused on behavioral biology research. She received her Master of Science Degree in Global Medicine with an emphasis in management from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, and the Marshall School of Business in 2014.
