Los Angeles County Community Development Foundation's (LACDF) mission is to end generational poverty in low-income housing throughout Los Angeles County.
Public Housing residents and Section 8 tenants are some of the nation's most disadvantaged families, seniors, and disabled persons. In partnership with the Los Angeles County Development Authority, we have taken on the challenge of ensuring that participants have the resources and opportunities to develop long term self-sufficiency and economic independence.
LACDF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to inspire and provide positive life-changing opportunities to Public Housing residents and Section 8 tenants. We are the non-profit partner of the LACDA.
We meet our mission to end generational poverty by encouraging both youth and adults to participate in college retention and persistence programming, including applying for Housing Authority Resident Scholarship, attending LACDA's annual Reality Check Conference focused on career and life skills development, and experiencing the benefits of College to Career Mentorship while persisting to graduate from college or a vocational training program. College bound high school students are also invited to participate in SAT Preparation Course offered free of charge.
We also provide youth (K-12) the opportunity to participate in after school activities that focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education, small group tutoring, reading and literacy, arts education, nutrition education, and recreation. LACDF also provides participants Fuel, a healthy snack program offered after school.
Through fiscal sponsorship, we assist The Growing Experience with program operations. The Growing Experience is a 7-acre farm that utilizes environmentally sustainable practices in all of its operations. The Growing Experience provides Public Housing residents, and the surrounding community, with outdoor green space for recreation, community events, affordable nutritious produce, nutrition education, and skills/job training opportunities.
If you are a participant of LACDA's Section 8 or Public Housing programs, you are eligible to participate in our programs. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
